Welcome to Denver Academy's 2012
HIMALAYAN ADVENTURE
JUNE 12th - 28th - INDIA AND NEPAL
Denver Academy’s “World is your Oyster Program” for 2012 offers an exceptional exploration of some of the world’s favorite destinations: the ancient Bazaars of Old Delhi and the Moghul Empire’s Red Fort, the sacred River Ganges that pours out of the Himalayas, at the heart of India’s culture, which is to be found in Rishikesh. In Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu, we will see sacred temples dedicated to the Buddhist and Hindu cultures, before we head for Pokhara where we will enjoy boating on the Royal Lake, and walking among the surrounding Annapurna Ranges towering above.  We will experience first hand the most sacred of all rivers in the world – the mighty ganga - a lifeline to millions of Indians who live along its course and depend on it for their daily needs. Majestic, magical and surreal sounds, tastes and smells – all of this will consume your senses as you immerse yourself in one of the richest cultures in the world.
We will be traveling deep in the Himalayas among some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world.  Rishikesh, in Uttaranchal, is known as the gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas. We will trek among the “Valley of Three mountains” and explore societies based on nomadic herds.  Villages along the way will offer small irrigated farms, handicraft cottage industries and a chance to live among the local people, visit their schools, orphanages, and centers for the handicapped. We will stay in ashrams run by high lamas and experience ashram meditation, yoga and ancient Ayurveda medicine.
Denver Academy’s 2012 “World is Your Oyster” program is a unique combination of cultural and travel experiences in one of the friendliest and most relaxed regions of the world. This trip promises to be a life-changing event.  You will not return home the same!
ALL INCLUSIVE PRICE: $4,550
